The Bangladesh Professional Engineers Registration Board (BPERB) was established by Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) in 2001 by an amendment of the constitution of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh and exists as an autonomous body with a Chairman and Board consisting of both engineers and non-engineering professionals.
Its main objective is to develop the engineering profession in Bangladesh by setting and maintaining a high standard of professional competence in engineering. To meet that end, the Board has established the core objectives and standards which are to be achieved by engineers wishing to be registered as Professional Engineers. Applicants are assessed for registration against these standards, and successful candidates are conferred the designation Professional Engineer (PEng). Their names are entered into a register of Professional Engineers maintained by BPERB.
BPERB is a provisional member of Internationa Professional Engineers Agreement (IPEA) of International Engineers Alliance (IEA)
